Re: Student Elections for Dubai Campus, 2012-13
Some steps to win a Student Election
Start speaking to school officials. See what you can and can't do within the office, and ensure that everything you promise can be reasonably accomplished. This has a twofold benefit, that being that you can both ensure you won't have to go back on promises you made once you've been elected and add an extra sense of credibility to your campaign.
Begin your campaign with posters. Ensure these aren't disallowed at your school, and then consider several options with regards to these. Often, the best option may be the simplest one- your names and maybe a quick point. Getting your names on the minds of people is key, especially in a larger school. Also, make sure you get posters that are vibrant and put these in places that people's eyes naturally go while walking through the school.(I won my election and I did this)
Continue to campaign. Speak to people about your ideas, while carefully ensuring you're not annoying them. Don't assume anyone is voting for you unless they've explicitly told you that.
Give away freebies within reason. A school-wide ice cream day, free cookies, and various other giveaways can be feasible as long as your school doesn't object to them. Though excessive giveaways may curry favor with certain students, you may begin to be seen as pandering for votes. Additionally, other candidates may not have the time and/or the money to arrange such things, potentially giving you an unfair advantage.
Prepare for the election. Make sure people come to school that day. Make sure other students, and you yourself, understand the voting procedures completely. Wait patiently for the results. Depending on the size of your school, it can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of days for the results to be tallied.

A new person will win it this year. Gut feeling.
