GETEX 2012 - Will it live up to the expectations?
Universities from UK, Canada, USA, Malaysia, Turkey, India and the UAE make up bulk of exhibitors at GETEX 2012
Some of the UAE-based universities that have confirmed participation include American University in Sharjah, American University in Dubai, Amity University, Middlesex University, Al Ghurair University and Ajman University. Anna University and Symbiosys International University of India; Skema Business School (France), ICAEW (UK), American University Beirut, University of Balamand (Lebanon), University of Windsor (Canada) and Seneca College (Canada), University of California and Western Michigan University from the United States of America are part of the long list of foreign universities that will be showcasing their academic programs at GETEX 2012.
Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, International Conferences and Exhibitions(IC&E), organizers of the event, said: “By gathering the best universities from all over the world, GETEX serves as an important networking platform that promotes and supports the integration of best practices in the Middle East academic landscape”.
GETEX 2012 will feature some of the most popular higher education destinations in the world, offering a complete array of graduate, post-graduate and occupational courses. The Higher Education segment will also host the unique “Business School” cluster, which is being introduced in response to growing interest in entrepreneurship and business education in the UAE and across the region.
GETEX 2012 will also offer a wide selection of residential/boarding schools and summer camps in the General Education segment. With the number of primary and secondary education institutions in the UAE and other GCC countries struggling to meet local demand, several boarding schools in countries such as Canada, India and UK are attending GETEX 2012 to cater to the strong demand for primary and secondary education.
There will also be a dedicated segment for Vocational Education, which will be offering entry-level skills programs through to higher level management or technical skills. The Training & Professional Development segment, on the other hand, serves as the region’s premier forum for career progression and professional development, with a selection of courses that include leadership development, coaching, project management, time management, HR best practices, and social media and communication.
GETEX 2012 will incorporate the Global EdTech Forum – A Teachers’ Conference, which aims to help educators reach out to students through effective communication and proper use of existing and new technology. The Forum also enables educators to share expertise, explore new technology and teaching aids, and boost their career growth potential through various training and skill-building workshops. This conference benefits from the worldwide network of educators through the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), a membership based organisation headquartered in Washington D.C.
